The King of Genge - Jua Cali has been targeted by a social networking fraud, who forged a Facebook account in his name. The false profile page, Jua Cali Genge, has been running a scam asking people to send in KSh. 1,000 to enable them appear in his advertisement.“We always monitor what goes on in the Internet as pertains to Calif artistes,” Thomas Mahondo, Chief Operations Officer Calif Records said. “That is how we noticed that the owner of the group was asking people to send money to register for Jua Cali’s upcoming advert. Jua Cali is not doing any adverts nor is he asking for any registration money.”
The number given out by the fraudster is not registered to M-Pesa but is owned by a Ms Eunice, according to the details on the Facebook profile. The number has been off for almost a week now. Meanwhile, Thomas says that Jua Cali only has two official Facebook accounts, Paul Nunda and Jua Cali, which has been nominated in this year’s Chaguo La Teeniez in the Teeniez’ Facebook Fan Page.
