Coast-based singer who has won the hearts of fans in Nairobi and the larger East African region has joined radio as a presenter. Nyota Ndogo has for the last three days taken over the night-time airwaves in the Coast-based radio station, Baraka FM, as a late night presenter. She co-hosts the 9pm to midnight Jahazi La Uwazi show with Fundi Dengo.“It has always been a dream of mine to get into radio for as long as I can remember but late last year Baraka FM guys called me and asked if I could do a show and it was like a dream come true for me,” Nyota said.
Due to her busy schedule doing shows over the December holidays and the jam-packed February tour with her band to Zanzibar, Nyota took up the job officially on Tuesday.
“The show covers topics that mainstream presenters usually give a wide berth,” the Watu Na Viatu star said. “On Wednesday night, we tabled the issue of a lady who is married to a closet gay man. We asked the listeners to call in with their advice for the couple. The response we got was overwhelming.”
